Grand National 2022 Race latest odds and best bets info

April 6, 2022 by Charles Berg Leave a Comment

There is a growing feeling that Snow Leopardess, Court Maid or Mount Ida can end a 71-year wait for a mare to win the Grand National 2022 at Aintree on Saturday and Win My Wings did nothing to dissuade that view when she ran away with the Scottish Grand National at Ayr.

The nine-year-old, the first mare to win the race for 51 years, led home a one-two for the go-to trainer of big staying handicap chases, Christian Williams, coming home seven lengths clear of her stable companion Kitty’s Light.

In truth, however, when she hit the front three out it was like she had just joined in and her amateur rider Rob James merely had to steer.

Williams said: “We knew she was good, we took her to France Compiegne]and she beat one of the best hurdlers in France over two and a quarter miles last May. She likes good ground, she makes hard work of it on soft. It’s a trappy track and Kitty’s Light did well to stand up at the second, but he’d have needed to be going some to beat Win My Wings.”

If Snow Leopardess wins the 2022 Grand National she would not only become the first mare to do so for 71 years, the first grey mare and, incredibly, the first to have already had a foal, but victory would cap an extraordinary lifetime with horses for her owner-breeder Marietta Fox-Pitt.

Fox-Pitt, 80, is best known for being the mother of Olympic three-day eventer William and for overseeing his stellar career. But she is a legend in her own right having led a remarkable life.

As a child she played croquet with Noel Coward, who lived locally, and snakes and ladders with one of her father’s “old army friends”, Sir Stewart Menzies, head of MI6 during the Second World War, when he came to shoot at Knowlton Court, the family estate near Dover.

“At the time you thought nothing of it,” she says. “I was only a child but you look back now and think ‘wow’. Noel Coward was very amusing, I’ve still got his telephone number in an old telephone address book.”

Still riding out the eventers, and very hands-on, even now she thinks nothing of putting a mare in the trailer and driving her to a stallion in France or Shropshire – and back in a day. She started off showing ponies side-saddle, and as a teenager she was already show jumping at White City.

She went to finishing school in Paris and the family would decamp lock, stock and barrel (and house cow) each winter to hunt in Leicestershire, where she soon became a renowned horsewoman. She was a debutante when, aged 17, her father died and she inherited Knowlton.

She quickly had to get to grips with running it so, while her fellow debs studied Cosmopolitan and Tatler, she had her nose in the Farmers Weekly. Her mother sent her to Africa for three months, a crash course in learning to stand on her own two feet.

Snow Leopardess’s career has also been anything but conventional and thinking outside the box is second nature when it comes to horses for Fox-Pitt. She was shown in-hand at Kent County Show, went into training with Ralph Beckett at two to learn to gallop, then went to Charlie Longsdon.

She won her first bumper in Britain, won in Ireland, won in France, injured a tendon, and had a foal by Sir Percy in her time out – Red Panda will join her at Longsdon’s yard in the autumn. When they started riding Snow Leopardess in the field again they had to stop each time the foal wanted a drink.

She went back into training, won over the Aintree fences in December, has had embryos fertilised by leading show jumping sire Chacco-Blue and transplanted so might be the mother one day of an international show jumper, and now lines up for the world’s greatest race.

They have gone to every target set more in hope than expectation but every time Snow Leopardess has delivered. “Win? I’m more worried than excited,” she says. “We’ll, no doubt, get excited nearer the time. But I’ve always liked winning.”

Marcus Armytage’s five horses to watch at the 2022 Grand National

Snow Leopardess – 7/1

A grey mare has never won the National let alone a mother but she is the story of the race and getting such media coverage that she could start favourite and be elected Prime Minister if there was a vote this week. A lot more going for her than just her colour and sex though.

Any Second Now – 8/1

The hard luck story in last year’s race when he had to step over a faller at the 12th which knocked him back to almost last. Coming in on the back of a win. Looks a big player and has good chance of giving owner JP McManus back-to-back Nationals after Minella Times last year.

Delta Work – 8/1

In the same colours as Tiger Roll and has followed the Tiger route winning the cross-country at Cheltenham on the way here. A possible negative is that he might have a hard race there. A class act, the cross-country sparked him back to life. He is probably the one to beat but this is a handicap and winning with 11st 9lb has never been historically easy. 8-1

Noble Yeats – 33/1

Bought for amateur Sam Waley-Cohen to ride, the jockey probably has the best record over the fences of anyone except Davy Russell. He’s been knocking on the door in several Nationals and this is an instance where it might pay to follow the jockey ahead of the horse.

Court Maid – 66/1

We’re all focused on Snow Leopardess to carry the flag for mares but this is an interesting alternative – she seems to stay extreme distances but has the speed to mix it over two and a half miles. Bought for the race, having her first run for Henry de Bromhead, a lot to like including her odds.

Grand National 2022 TV channel and latest odds

March 27, 2022 by Charles Berg Leave a Comment

The countdown is on to the world’s most famous horse race the Grand National 2022 at Aintree.A field of 40 runners make the starting line to tackle 30 fences over four-and-a-half miles. Watched each year by more than 500 million people, the race is a huge sporting event. Last year, viewers saw Rachael Blackmore become the first woman to ride the winner on Minella Times.

The real race was substituted by a virtual version in 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic – but the previous two years also had a notable result. Tiger Roll was the first horse since Red Rum in 1973-74 to win consecutive Grand Nationals. Although the Irish chaser will not be at Aintree this year, Minella Times is expected to try and match his achievements under his Gold Cup-winning rider.

Where is Grand National 2022

The 2022 Grand National will be the 174th annual running of the Grand National horse race. It will take place on Saturday, 9 April 2022, at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool, England. The event will once again be sponsored by Randox Health

Key runners

These are the top five horses in the betting with bookmakers at the time of writing.Grand National Betting Offers

Last year’s third has been well-backed for the race in recent weeks. Hampered in the early stages then, he has more weight this time. Trainer Ted Walsh is chasing his second Grand National win 22 years after Papillon took the Aintree showpiece.

Pipped Tiger Roll at the Cheltenham Festival, when he relished the different jumps. This is similar and he proved he stays further than three miles. That was on heavy ground so he will have to train on well to have a big chance.

Escaria Ten

Lost out by just a nose to Any Second Now in his warm-up, when appearing as though he would benefit from the run. Wore first-time blinkers on that occasion and the pair were well clear of the third Burrows Saint. A strong stayer and has class too.

Enjoy Dallen

Purchased by JP McManus and has improved plenty for the switch to Ciaran Murphy’s stable. Third in last season’s Irish National at a big price and like Minella Times, was placed in the Paddy Power Chase on his way here. Also had two outings over hurdles of late and shaped well in both.

Loves Aintree and thrives on the unique jumping test. Went through the Becher Chase in December with plenty of zest and is guaranteed a run now from a low weight. Would appreciate some rain the build-up.

Latest odds from Betfred

9-1 Any Second Now, Delta Work,, 10-1 Escaria Ten, 12-1 Enjoy Dallen, Snow Leopardess, 16-1 Minella Times, Fiddlerontheroof, 20-1 Longhouse Poet, Run Wild Fred, Farclas, Burrows Saint, Cloth Cap, Mount Ida, 25-1 Discorama, Noble Yeats, 33-1 Two For Gold, Kildisart, Fortescue, Good Boy Bobby, School Boy Hours, Death Duty, Phoenix Way, Eclair Surf, Santini, Chriss Dream, Court Maid, 40-1 bar.

Grand National 2019 Prize Money and Betting Offers

March 26, 2019 by Charles Berg Leave a Comment

The Grand National is one of the affluent horse races in the world in terms of the Grand Prize Money. In 2019, the Grand National once again provided a prize of a total of £ 1 million. In the end, this race attracted another big field. Over the years, Aintree Grand National has had many sponsors for the race. The biggest supporter of Steeplechase in the world today is Randox Health.

How Much will the Aintree winner earn? Aintree recently confirmed that this year’s prize money is the same as last year with a total worth of £ 1 million and top-10 finishers will receive a check. With a total of 40 runners, this means only 25% of the horses will get prize money. The first winner will receive £ 561k, a life-changing amount for most horse racing owners. With a difference of £ 350k between first and second finishing, this race has a high bet.

Grand National prize breakdown per position:

1st £ 561,300
2nd £ 211,100
3rd £ 105,500
4th £ 52,700
5th £ 26,500
6th £ 13,200
7th £ 6,800
8th £ 3,600
9th £ 2,000
10th £ 1,000

The Grand National Betting Offers

The Grand National Betting Offers to provide the most significant betting turnover of all horse racing in the world. There will always be offers that will help customers during the race. Some bookmakers may remove their initial registration offer in the days leading up to the Grand National. But don’t worry, there are still many Grand National Bets deals that can be obtained at the actual race.

Customers can also take full advantage here. Even if you are already a customer of a leading bookie, you will still always be looking for their Grand National betting offer. To attract customers to place bets, the dealer may offer refunds on fallers, unseated Jockeys or fallen horses. It is possible for other bookies to increase the payment of standard top four places to the top 5, 6 or even 7th position.

The Grand National has a total of 30 complicated fences and a field crowded by 40 runners. Seeing fallers during a race is an impossible thing. Fallers can mean that a horse falls and the jockey does not sit, or the horse is dropped by another participant while racing. In case of fallers, bookmakers will return your bet (up to a certain amount) as a free cash bet. Again, be sure to check each player’s betting offer terms, in short, if your horse falls, is lowered or the jockey doesn’t sit then you will get your money back.

This term is a good insurance bet. With around 10-15 of the 40 players expected to end their race in this way, the disappointment of supporting a sudden falling horse can be removed.

Here are some of the ports that are widely used by customers:

1.Paddy Power
2.Unibet
3.Betfair
4.William
4.Betfred
5.bet365
